The western part of the United States offers a vide range of possibilities. Are you interested in nature? Great! You can find a number of beautiful national parks along your journey - like the famous Yosemite National Park. Are you a fan of the hustle and bustle of the city jungle? No problem! San Francisco, L.A. or Las Vegas provide a great variety of shops, bars, restaurants and all around fun activities. I found a round trip offer by clevertours with a fixed daily schedule, but also enough time for additional activities. Here my travel route and experiences: Day 1: Flight to Los AngelesOn the first day, I arrived at the airport and had a transfer to the hotel. After a long flight, I decided to relax for the rest of the day to counteract my jet lag. My flight with Aer Lingues left from Frankfurt with a stopover in Dublin. Although the journey was not too bad, I recommend direct flights whenever possible. Day 2: Los Angeles – Las Vegas (435 km)The next day began with a city tour of LA, including Hollywood and the Hollywood Boulevard. I took some time to admire the famous hand prints of the stars at Mann's Chinese Theater and took a picture of the famous Hollywood sign. Beverly Hills, the Rodeo Drive and Marilyn Monroe's house were nice tourist attractions to cover. However, I suggest to take a few more days in Los Angeles to really enjoy everything the city has to offer. My trip continued through the Mojave Desert to Nevada and in the afternoon I reached Las Vegas - world famous for its casinos and shows. Day 3: Las VegasFor today, I planned a stroll along the famous Las Vegas strip. You will see a number of casinos, restaurants and bars with different themes, shows and other offers. Don't forget to plan a trip to Downtown Las Vegas! There, you can enjoy the Fremont Street Experience. The barrel vault LED ceiling with 12.5 million LED displays and a length of about 460m runs a six minute show every hour (between 8 pm and 1 am). Day 4: Las Vegas – Zion National Park – Bryce Canyon (392 km)In the Mormon state of Utah I visited Zion National Park, whose unique landscape was created by wind, time and the power of the Virgin River. In the afternoon, I explored Bryce Canyon National Park. The canyon, created by erosion, differs from others by its unique geological structures, the "hoodoos", which are formed from sediments by wind, water and ice. The red, orange and white sediments offer unique landscapes. As a special treat, I suggest a flight over the Bryce Canyon. Although not exactly cheap, it was an amazing experience! If you have the proper weather conditions, you can also opt for a flight over the Grand Canyon instead. Sadly, it was too windy on my day at the Grand Canyon, but I was really happy with my flight over the Bryce Canyon. Zion National Park Bryce Canyon Flight over Bryce Canyon Day 5: Bryce Canyon – Lake Powell – Grand Canyon Area (553 km)In the morning, I left Bryce Canyon National Park and drove to beautiful Lake Powell. The lake was created after the Glen Canyon Dam was built and offers numerous water sports opportunities amidst the breathtaking scenery of the canyon. In the afternoon, I finally arrived at one of the wonders of the world, the Grand Canyon. It is about 450 km long (350 km of which are within the National Park), between 6 and 30 km wide and up to 1,800 m deep. The name of the Canyon comes from the Colorado River, which was formerly called Grand River. Here you should take a walk along the southern rim of the canyon from its vantage points overlooking the Grand Canyon. Grand Canyon Day 6: Grand Canyon Area – Route 66 – Joshua Tree Nationalpark – |
